The Internet started as ARPANET a collection of university and business computers that were connected mostly over high speed phone lines. It was used for educational purposes, nothing was bought or sold and using it to make money was against the rules. There began to be parallel nets that could have commercial traffic and by the end of 1995 commercial traffic became the norm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Led teams and contributed to dozens of ecommerce, bartering, catalog and other interactive sites using PHP/JavaScript/C/Perl/MySQL and other tools.
  • Designed or directed the design of over 300 Web sites for businesses of all sizes.
  • Created robots to do market research using the Internet.
  • Developed portions of the Sun Netra-i product.
  • Provide Internet access for companies and users.
  • Completely maintain Internet domains, including sendmail configuration, routing, news, nntp, PPP, slip, TCP/IP, richtext, metamail, MIME, elm, PGP, DNS, hypertext-sever and home pages (httpd), gopher, wais, ntp, and SOCKS (this is interesting because I first did this in 1993).
  • Registered domain name "shoppingmall.com" in January 1994 and "steiny.com"in June 1992.
