The Internet
started as ARPANET a collection of university and business computers that were connected mostly over high speed phone lines. It was used for educational purposes, nothing was bought or sold and using it to make money was against the rules. There began to be parallel nets that could have commercial traffic and by the end of 1995 commercial traffic became the norm. |
